An access control list (ACL) is an ordered list of rules used to filter traffic. Each rule states what’s permitted or what’s denied.

You can secure a Cisco router using Access Control Lists (ACLs) to filter traffic and control which users or systems can access the network. ACLs can be used to block or allow traffic on interfaces, and to control which types of traffic are forwarded.
